"Pilchuck 2007" springs from the emotional source of a place – Pilchuck – which for years was a creative fountain for Nittolo.
The artist presents words in glass and stone, sometimes soft as a whisper, other times like a scream.
Felice Nittolo is an artist born in Italy and his work is appreciated in Europe, the United States and Japan.
Numerous books about him have been published and his art has been on show in a number of museums and art galleries.
Felice Nittolo was born in Carpriglia Irpina, Avellino, Italy.
Nittolo is one of the most important exponents of contemporary mosaic art, lying somewhere between tradition and innovation, with extraordinarily lively and stimulating results.
Nittolo has caught national and international attention with a series of artistic proposals, which if not breaking away, are at least provocative such as Arrhythmia, and the manifesto of the New Tradition. Another constant in this research is the successful attempt to break through the traditional boundaries between the arts.
In fact, even if defending the autonomy of mosaic and ceramic language, he has intuitively understood the intimate correspondence between mosaics, ceramics, glass, theatre, music and poetry.
After going through an experience in theater scenography, in the early 1990’s, Nittolo condensed an integrated fusion of ceramics, drawing, painting, and sculpture, all of which turn into mosaic, becoming a plastic structure, a search for movement a statement of life: an artistic suggestion of full beauty, made of shapes, lights and colours woven into the background of a very ancient tradition.
Because of the uniqueness of his art, Nittolo has been invited by many Italian and foreign cultural institutions, including the campus college of Pilchuck’s glass school to give workshops.
